LSU Health New Orleans has begun a $100 million renovation of its School of Dentistry, a project aimed at modernizing Louisiana’s only dental school and expanding its capacity for education, patient care and research.
University leaders, elected officials and members of the LSU Board of Supervisors marked the start of construction with a ceremonial wall demolition at the school’s New Orleans campus.
The renovation will upgrade classrooms, clinical spaces and faculty work areas while improving campus infrastructure and accessibility. LSU Health officials said the investment is intended to better prepare future dental professionals and enhance care for patients across the state.
“This dental school modernization project is an example of how LSU and the state can work in partnership to address a critical need and turn a longstanding vision into reality,” said Dr. David Guzick, senior vice chancellor of LSU Health New Orleans. “Through a significant investment by both the state of Louisiana and LSU Health New Orleans, we are ensuring a robust future for the School of Dentistry as Louisiana’s sole institution for dental education, patient care and innovation.”
