Design-build overcomes tight timeline through preconstruction and close collaboration.
DonahueFavret Contractors negotiated this complex and fast paced project with the owner of the Saints and Pelicans sports franchises. The project was contracted as a design-build delivery system. The project was an extremely tight timeline so the preconstruction efforts were very intense for the first few months of the project. A great deal of exploratory demo had to be done to ensure no surprises were uncovered as construction started.
The project had many challenges including steel erection 75 feet in the air on an existing building. High coordination with the building managers was needed as the floors below housed an operating medical facility. The design of the project included a rooftop paver terrace overlooking Champion Square with design for a future rooftop pool and Mercedes car displays, custom imported lit glass bar top complete with an outdoor bar and high level interior finishes.
