Contemporary addition delivers high-performance STEAM curriculum.
New Orleans, Louisiana DonahueFavret Contractors has completed several renovation and addition projects at St. Mary’s Dominican High School facility throughout the years. In 2016, DonahueFavret Contract completed the addition of the Tom and Gayle Benson Science & Technology Complex. This new building focuses on STEM fields while intertwining Religion and Arts into the curriculum. The two-story complex doubles the school’s pre-project laboratory space. It is connected to St. Mary’s Hall and Cazale Hall, whose second-floor classrooms for science, physics and robotics were renovated. The fast-tracked project consisted of a 67,600 square foot renovation and approximate 17,000 square-foot addition, including laboratory classrooms for physics, chemistry, biology, anatomy, earth science, physical science, and science research, as well as a robotics center. Dominican was also the first high school in the United States to have the SynDaver, an elaborate and sophisticated full-body surgical simulator used in the Human Anatomy classes.
The high-performance exterior consisted of brick, insulated metal panels and curtain walls.
